Can I paint them to match my car?

Yes, they can be painted to match your car. If you want to paint yours, you need to make sure the paint will stick to the SmoothLock. We suggest using an adhesion promoter such as Dupli-Color CP199 Clear Adhesion Promoter Primer – 11 oz. or similar product. Once the primer has dried, you can spray paint the SmoothLocks…

Painting Method #1 (recommended) – Take a large piece of cardboard and lay it flat. Push a pin (or small headed nail) into it so it is standing straight up. Carefully peel the SmoothLock from the backing paper (handling it by its edges) and lightly place the adhesive side on the top end of the pin just enough so it is secure. Paint it using only as many light coats as needed, not allowing the paint or any debris to get under the SmoothLock and stuck to the adhesive. Once dried, carefully remove the SmoothLock and gently apply to your clean lock surface.

Painting Method #2 Paint the SmoothLock while on the backing paper using as many light coats as needed. Once the paint dries, use a very sharp X-Acto knife to trim around the edge of the SmoothLock. This will make it easier to remove it from the backing paper without cracking the paint.
